Skeleton & Seagull

Skeleton & Seagull – Coastal Gothic

A weathered skeleton stands watch beneath a perched seagull in this wonderfully strange coastal scene. Deep blues, rusty reds, and shadowy textures give the image an almost dreamlike quality—part seaside mystery, part dark humor, and just eerie enough to make you look twice.

There’s something oddly charming about the contrast: the patient old bones below and the very much alive seagull calmly keeping company overhead. It feels like a forgotten character from an old harbor legend, still standing guard long after everyone else has gone home.

The image comes from a modern postcard, displayed in a substantial dark faux-wood frame with warm brown tones and classic beveled detailing. Its larger outer size gives this small image considerably more presence, making it an easy conversation piece for a coastal room, pirate collection, Halloween display, or anyone drawn to unusual art with a little personality.
