Description

The cover features a softly patterned teal background layered with butterflies in warm yellow and rust tones, centered around a delicate illustration of a bird perched on a cage. Floral accents and gentle color contrasts give the piece a sense of balance — light, calm, and quietly expressive.

The black spine adds structure and contrast, finished with a wrap-around string closure secured by a small clock-face button. The details feel intentional without being decorative for their own sake.

Inside, the journal opens to softly aged papers in warm, neutral tones, paired with a floral endpaper at the front. There are 40 pages of mixed papers, sewn together and intentionally left flexible. It’s meant for writing, sketching, collage work, or simply turning pages and pausing.

Each element is assembled by hand, and small variations are part of what give the journal its character. This is a one-of-a-kind piece — the exact journal shown here is the one that will be sent.

These handmade journals are created by my great-aunt, Janet Zannini of Tesori Art and Crafts. The care in the construction, the stitching, and the way the pages come together stood out immediately, which is why her work belongs here.
