This handmade junk journal features a striking steampunk-inspired black cat on the cover, accented with antique-style metal gears, a clock-face button closure, and a black wrap tie. The layered design and softly aged tones give it a quiet, mechanical elegance that feels both whimsical and vintage.

Inside, the journal contains 40 pages of mixed papers in warm browns, creams, and subtle patterns. The pages are sewn together and intentionally left flexible, creating an interactive journal meant for writing, sketching, collage work, memory-keeping, or creative exploration.

These handmade journals are created by my great-aunt, Janet Zannini of Tesori Art and Crafts. I noticed the details right away — the stitching, the construction, and the care taken in assembling each page. That’s why I wanted to share her work here.
